Customers can share their card

Customer enrolment

A customer can pass their card on to somebody else, the way a paper stamp card gets handed over. It stays one card.

A paper stamp card can be handed across the counter. Somebody gives one to a friend, a couple keep one between them, a parent passes one to whoever is going out. A LoyalPack card works the same way: from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet a customer can send their card to somebody else, and it lands in their wallet too.

There is nothing to switch on. Sharing is allowed on every card, so you will not find a setting for it on the Offer tab or anywhere else.

It is still one card

This is the part worth being clear about, because it is what makes sharing safe. A shared card is not a copy with its own stamps: it is the same card, with the same code, showing the same count to everybody holding it. Stamps are only ever added when a member of your staff scans it at the counter, and a reward can only be spent once, by whoever is standing in front of you. Two people sharing a card collect one set of stamps between them, exactly like the paper one.

What it means for your numbers

A card in two people’s wallets still counts as one customer in your reports, because it is one card. If you are collecting names or email addresses to know who your regulars are, that is worth remembering: the details belong to whoever joined. The same goes for anything given per customer, like a joining stamp or a birthday treat, which goes to the card rather than to each person holding it.

If somebody should not have the card

Nothing is lost by a card being passed on, but if you need to stop one being used, the stamps and the reward are still yours to control at the counter: you scan the card, so nothing is added or spent without you. Get in touch if you need a specific card retired.

Still stuck?

If none of this covers it, send us a message and a person will reply. Tell us what you were doing when it went wrong, and we can usually sort it in one message.

So we can reply. We use it for nothing else.

Optional. Handy if it is quicker to talk it through.

A few words, such as: stamps not showing on a card.

What you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead.
