Why your card can look different in a wallet

Card design

The preview, the card page and a wallet pass draw the same design, and none of them is wrong.

Your design goes to three places: the preview on Card Design, the card page a customer opens in a browser, and the pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. They are the same design and they will not be pixel for pixel the same picture.

Why they differ

  • Apple and Google each draw a pass their own way. The corners, the spacing and where the code sits are theirs, not ours, and they change them when they like.
  • Google Wallet now shows your Brand Icon inside a white circle. Coloured artwork is fine there; white artwork on a transparent background disappears into the circle and is effectively invisible, which is why a Brand Icon should never be white on a clear background. The Wide Logo is not affected.
  • A pass already on a phone shows the design it was last given. It picks up a new one the next time that card is stamped or a reward is spent.
  • Phone screens differ. The same colour looks warmer on one handset than another.

Icons that keep their own colours

Most stamp marks are drawn in whatever you set as Stamp colour, or in the card text colour if you left it empty. A few marks come with colours of their own, and those ignore the setting: the page says so under the control. If a mark is not taking your colour, that is why.

What to do about it

Design for the worst case rather than chasing a match. If the stamps are countable and the reward is readable on a phone, the card is doing its job in all three places. If something looks genuinely wrong rather than merely different, email us with the phone and the wallet and we will look.

The count is never in doubt, whatever the pass looks like. What LoyalPack holds is the real number, and the card page always shows it.

Still stuck?

If none of this covers it, send us a message and a person will reply. Tell us what you were doing when it went wrong, and we can usually sort it in one message.

So we can reply. We use it for nothing else.

Optional. Handy if it is quicker to talk it through.

A few words, such as: stamps not showing on a card.

What you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead.
