The card starts again from empty
Spending a reward takes off the number of stamps it cost, which empties the card. It cannot leave anything behind: a full card refuses another stamp until you have said what happens to the reward, so there is never more on it than the reward costs.
A reward the customer chose to keep for later is different, and it is worth knowing the difference at the counter. Claiming one of those leaves their current card exactly as it is, stamps and all, because they are on a new card already. See Keep a reward for later.
It is the same as the paper card it replaces: the full one is handed in, and a fresh one starts. Worth saying as you hand the reward over, so nobody thinks their stamps have gone missing.
What the customer sees
Their card page shows the new count as soon as they open it. A card in a wallet catches up the next time you scan it, so do not be surprised if a pass still shows the old number for a while: what LoyalPack holds is the real count.
What gets written down
- Spending it is recorded with the person who was signed in at the time.
- Customer Cards counts it under Rewards spent, beside the Rewards earned it came from.
- The Audit Log shows the reward spent alongside the stamps around it, which is where to look if you ever need to work out what happened.
It is the same card, so there is nothing to reissue and nothing for the customer to do. Their next stamp goes on straight away.
