A wallet card lives on your customer’s phone, not on our servers. So when you send a message, LoyalPack updates the card and asks the wallet to show it. The wallet, and the phone it is on, decide the rest.
On an iPhone
Your message becomes a line on the back of the card, and we nudge the phone to come and fetch the new version. The phone shows your sentence as it updates. Where the daily limit has already been used on that card, the same line appears with nothing shown.
The label above that line is your title, or your business name if you left the title blank. Apple Wallet does not put the label in the notification itself: what the phone shows when it buzzes is your sentence, titled with your business name from Business branding under Settings, because the iPhone names every notification after the business whose card it is. The customer reads the label when they open the card. Messages LoyalPack sends for you, such as a birthday or a reward being ready, keep the plain label "Message" and are titled with your business name too.
The small mark beside your sentence is your Brand Icon, from Business branding under Settings, so the message looks like it came from you. Upload one as a PNG and it reaches cards on their next update, without your customers doing anything. With no Brand Icon, or one saved as a JPEG or WebP, the plain LoyalPack mark is shown instead.
A phone that is switched off, out of signal, or has notifications turned off for wallet cards simply catches up later with nothing shown. The card is still correct when the customer opens it.
On an Android phone
Google Wallet takes the message directly and adds it to the card, and we ask Google to show it as well. Google applies its own rules on top of ours about how often a card may notify somebody.
The header of that message is your title, or your business name if you left the title blank, so the card no longer says "Message" twice. Messages LoyalPack sends for you keep the plain header "Message", apart from a trading-location message, which carries no header at all: your sentence about where you are stands on its own.
Customers who have not added the card yet
Some of your customers use the card in their browser rather than in a wallet. They have no wallet pass to notify, so the check page counts them separately as "no wallet pass yet". Your message is still stored on their card, and they see it the next time they open it, or as soon as they add the card to a wallet.
What the record tells you
- "Notification requested" means we asked Apple or Google to show it. It does not mean the phone showed it, and nothing anywhere can tell you that.
- "Card updated" means the message is on the card and nobody was interrupted, which normally means the daily limit had already been used on that card.
- "No wallet pass yet" means that customer has not added the card to a wallet.
- "Wallet not reachable" means the wallet refused or could not be contacted. Where the fault looked temporary LoyalPack tried again a few times over the following half hour before writing that down. The message is still on the card either way, and the next update usually clears it.
If a customer says a message never appeared, the honest answer is usually that their phone chose not to show it. Ask them to open the card: your message will be on it.
