Everything here is made of customer cards your customers already hold. There is no list to import and no address to add by hand: if somebody has not joined, you cannot message them.
A message goes to one Loyalty Program at a time, and it starts from every active customer card that Program has issued. "Send to" then narrows that to one of four groups, and the first of the four is all of them.
The four choices
- All cards. Every active customer card on the Program. This is what is selected when you open the page.
- Cards with at least X stamps. Everyone that far into their current card, where X is the number you type in the Stamps box. Useful for a nudge to the people who are nearly there.
- Cards with a reward waiting. Everyone who is owed something right now, whether they filled a card or kept one for later.
- Cards not used in X days. No stamp, reward earned or reward spent in the number of days you type in the Days box, from 14 to 365.
One choice at a time
It is one list with one answer, not a set of boxes: pick one and the others are off. The two choices that take a number show their box, marked Stamps or Days, only while they are picked, and a number left in a box you have moved away from is ignored. A choice that needs a number and has none is refused rather than ignored, because ignoring it would quietly send to everybody.
There is no way to message one named person from here, and that is deliberate: a broadcast form where a mistyped number reaches the wrong customer is not a safe place to put it. Birthdays are not a choice here either: birthday messages are automatic and set up under Birthdays on the Program’s Notifications tab.
One Loyalty Program at a time
If you run more than one Program, a Program box at the top of the message asks which one. There is no "every Program" answer: the totals under the message are counts of one Program, and a message is recorded against one. With a single Program there is no Program box at all, and the message goes to that Program’s cards. With no active Program yet, there is nothing to send to, and the page says so.
The three totals
- Total cards in Program. Every active customer card the Program has issued, before your choice.
- Filtered out cards. The cards that will not be asked for a notification. Press the small i beside it to see why: the cards your choice leaves out, the cards not yet in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and the cards that already had a notification in the last 24 hours. Those last two still get the message on the card itself.
- Notifications we’ll request. The cards a wallet will be asked to notify. Request is the honest word: the wallet decides whether the phone shows anything, and nobody reports back.
How many one message reaches
As many as match. There is no cap on the size of the group: a message to 800 customer cards goes to all 800. It goes out in the background, a batch at a time, so a large group takes a few minutes rather than a moment, and the page you land on after pressing Send follows it card by card.
The counts are a snapshot taken as you choose. Customers join and get stamped while you are reading, so the figure after you send can differ by one or two. The results always report what actually happened.
